Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a complete system of
curing which provides
effective treatment for numerous conditions, from the common cold
and flus, to addiction and chronic
fatigue syndrome. It increases
immune response and lessens pain by balancing the flow of vital life energy
throughout the body. It It is also effective as an adjunctive treatment
for AIDS.
Acupuncture arised in China over five
thousand years ago. The Chinese believe that health is
determined by a balanced flow of qi the vital life energy present in all living organisms. According to
acupuncture theory, qi circulates in the body along twelve
major energy trajectories, called meridians, each linked to specific
internal organs and organ systems.
William Michael Cargile, Chairman of Research for the
American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, states
that there are
over one thousand acupoints
within the meridian
system that can be stimulated to increase the flow of qi. When
special needles are inserted into these acupoints (just under the
skin), they help correct and rebalance the flow of energy and
therefore relieve pain and/or recover health.
